about
Most people hate gray, overcast days. I don't. I welcome them. I welcome the reprieve from the sun's rays constantly shouting seize the day. I find comfort in the fact that gray skys have no expectations. This anti-summer anthem was written as part of BlowUpRadio.com's 2022 songwriter challenge and is just dark enough to be a fall anthem instead.
lyrics
Stragulum Griseo (Summer Anthem for the Unimpressed)
Damn the sun today
i prefer a blanket of gray
cool diffuse light over heat
Without the fire of road beneath my feet
Summer’s almost gone before it came
I take a walk down by the river
Ignore a world that’s gone completely insane
Entombed in night of winter
Left to call souls drifted away
They cloud the sun screaming seize the day
The river now as gray as sky
A question that has no reply
No excuses, no demands
No reviewing unfinished plans
No bright light to drive thought away
Solitude in solid gray
